In 1985 Richie and his blood brother, guitarist & song writer Niko De'Saint decided to put a band together and started writing original music. The first lineup of the band included Richie's childhood friend Anthony Reece on keyboards. The band did well and recorded an album with world renown record producer Eddy Offord. Eddy produced records for rock "legends" Emerson Lake & Palmer, The Police and many others. The music was top notch but the record labels didn't bite. The band decided to change and go back to writing hard-rock/metal music without keyboards and went back into the studio as a four piece band. They recorded a four song demo and sent it back out the labels Our manager called us and said, "Atco" records heard the music and informed us that they were interested in two bands, De'Saint & a band from Texas named "Pantera", Pantera won the battle and went on to be one of the biggest bands in the world, they deserved it, may God bless the Abbott family. After that the music industry changed with all the Seattle bands and Richie made the tough decision to leave the band and that's when the Mountain Drum Company was born.
